WHAT TRAINING SHOULD WE PROVIDE TO SUPERVISORS?

For supervisors to gain their City & Guilds qualification and NEREO Licence they need to:

Attend a 2 day course to gain Unit 521 – Winter Service Supervision & Monitoring.
This consists of approximately one and a half days of theory and practical training with a Winter Service Vehicle, followed by a written test and an individual show me/tell me practical exercise. We are allowed by City & Guilds to take a maximum 8 candidates on this unit over two days.

In addition, those supervisors who are new to the service may also benefit from attending the yard based element of the practical training provided for operatives to help ensure they have sufficient practical knowledge of fitting a plough; pre-start checks; loading and unloading the vehicles etc. We strongly recommend Training should also be provided, particularly if formal training has not previously been given/recorded within the last 5 years or if equipment/Risk Assessments have changed.
